Hour 18

I'm now up to 4 books. After taking a brief nap break, I'm back on it, having finished another book, tried another and almost made it all the way through my audiobook. I've almost hit my 1000 pages goal already, so might add in another 500 for good measure!

Books read: 4
Pages read: 931

Hour 13

It is 1am, I'm still awake, and I've just finished another book!

Books read: 3
Pages read: 808

Hour 10

Time flies when you're having fun!

I have just finished my second book, To Best the Boys and it was amazing! I've been taking some audiobook breaks to cook and eat. I am very proud atm that I haven't given up on reading yet

Books read: 2
Pages read: 669

14 hours to go!

Hour 4

I have managed to finish a book! I am very proud of myself right now, it has been a long time since I sat down and read a book through.

Books completed: 1
Pages read: 366

Hour 1

Get myself fully sucked into The Island by M.A. Bennett, 93 pages read in the first hour and feeling positive about my progress so far!

Dewey's 24 hour readathon

It is almost time for the readathon the start and I am freaking out.
Do I have enough books?
Do I have enough snacks?
What if the world ends?

I really do like to catastrophise.

I have set myself the goal of reading 1000 pages. I even went all out and set up an excel spreadsheet to track this, which is something I have never done before.

I am going to try to post every hour updating my progress. Wish me luck.

Thursday thoughts

So, I've been thinking, as adults who read a lot, we tend to end up with books in piles. I'll give you some examples of the sections of books I currently have around the house:

  1. The books I must read- these are largely for book clubs, or for people who have loaned me books. These are the books I have to read even if I'm not 100% in the mood for them.
  2. The books I want to read- these form a nice mixture of books I own and ones I have borrowed from the library, these are things I just want to read right now but often can't due to the other types of books in my life.
  3. The books I really should read- these lovely stories have either been sat on my shelf for too long, in my mind for too long, or partly read and sat on my 'currently reading' shelf on goodreads for the longest time. These books lead to the most guilt,
  4. The books I'm actually going to read- These ones tend to stay in my line of sight, I might pick them up regularly, read reviews or even just flick through them while reading other things.
  5. The books I'm forcing myself to read. For some reason I seem to keep finding myself stuck with a book that I am reading, not enjoying but forcing myself to get through because reasons.
Now, I know this is ridiculous. I should reached a stage in my life where I should maybe have just piles 1 and 2, but for some reason, the other remain and with the pressure of reading goals I find myself putting off reading longer books that I know I will love once I start.

Anyway, these are just my Thursday night thoughts having just finished a book I wanted to read and now sat staring at a book I have to read for book club and a book I should read because I started it then got distracted. How do you decide what to read next?
